Benteng Peninggalan Belanda dan Jepang

Sabang

Description

The fortress of the 2nd world war, former Dutch & Japanese colonization is located on the hill above Sabang city which is now becomes historical evidence.

From the top of this castle we can enjoy the beauty of the panorama of Sabang. In the past this fort was used as a refuge for Dutch and Japanese troops.

Many Dutch and Japanese fortresses are spread all around this Weh island and that’s the reason why the island is known as the "Thousand Fortress City".

The fortresses were all built between 1942 and 1945 which were once connected through tunnels that are now closed for security reasons.
